How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Lots of people value the ease of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket provide much more piece of mind than trying to perform a similar job working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the right choice for performing jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated in the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
