Used Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Tacoma

Use a Pneumatic Forklift
Pneumatic forklifts are common in shipping and warehouse operations. Also called pump trucks or pallet trucks, they are utilized to move products and materials around on wooden pallets using metal forks mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight contains a pump that raises the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is intended to be operated by one individual.

Pallet trucks must be operated carefully in order to prevent loss of control while lifting heavy loads. Equipment must be checked before operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstacle. Check that the handle can turn smoothly. The pallet must be carefully stacked to guarantee that nothing would fall off during transportation.

To release air in the pump and lower the forks, squeeze the lever located on the inside of the metal loop on the end of the pallet truck's handle. The forks can then be pushed into the pallet slots. The forks should be at the center in order to guarantee even distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Lift the forks from the ground by pumping the pneumatic lift's handle until the pallet has cleared the ground completely. Do not lift the pallet too high or the forklift could unbalance.

Pull on the handle and then drag it behind you if you want to move the pallet. It is not safe to push the pallet in front of you as the thrust could cause it to go out of control. Slowly take turns and don't try to stop suddenly. Stop gradually, squeeze the lever, and the forks will lower to the ground. Lastly, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent location.
