The Liebherr family business was created during the year 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The company initially gained fame from its mobile tower crane which was noted for its ease of assembly and affordability. It was upon this invention that the foundation of the company flourished under. Nowadays, The Liebherr company has grown to become one of the top manufacturers within the world of construction machines. The company has also gained the reputation of being the acknowledged provider of technically innovative user-oriented products and services in a range of fields. The company has now become a "Group" working in every continent with over 130 companies and more than 35,000 workers across the world.
To be able to ensure a manageable operating size, the Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units. These units have been designed to operate separately. This specific set up allows the company the ability to stay in tune with global competition and be flexible to market signals. Liebherr has instituted the divisional control companies to deal with the management operations of production and sales for the individual product segments. The Liebherr Group now has ten various product divisions.
The holding company of the Liebherr Group is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is situated within Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by members of the Liebherr family. Currently, the family business is being managed by Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr and her brother Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr in the 2nd generation. Ever since 2012, some of the active individual divisions have been represented by family members in the 3rd generation like: Patricia Ruf, Stefanie Wohlfarth, Sophie Albrecht and Jan Liebherr. These family members have been working together to help set up the family business' course in the future. They are staying on top of residential buildings and large-scale industrial projects across the world.
Hans Liebherr started to build his company during 1949, within a small town known as Kirchdorf within southern Germany. Kirchdorf, currently supports among Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations. They employ more than 1400 individuals in that particular workforce and can average a yearly output of around 2800 wheeled excavators.
