In 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. During that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of clients and hence, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. Like for example, Genie went into production with telehandlers, stick booms, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values as a result of the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered along with Terex. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing outstanding support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machines.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like for example in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC equipment together with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These equipment are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These equipment deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
