What is the Difference between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?

Knowing the difference between pneumatic tire forklifts and cushion tire forklifts is one of the most popular questions about this type of equipment. Every kind of tire is specifically right for different requirements.

Similar to tires on a vehicle, pneumatic tires have air inside of them. These tires are great for indoor usage but they are most useful on gravel and uneven surfaces and in outdoor "yard" applications.

Cushion tires are designed as a solid industrial tire that is used mostly for indoor operation. These tires can be used outdoors on just asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outdoors, there is an option to get traction tires on the front of the machinery. These are known as the drive tires. The steer tires or the back tires are specifically designed for steering. Traction tires located on the back of the forklift would just wear out quicker. Thus, if you do need to work outside, having traction on the front and the smooth tires on the back would be the safest and most economical way to operate.

What is the difference between Air Pneumatic and Solid Pneumatic tires?

When trying to know the main distinction between the two tire types, it can be a bit tricky. They both work in the same outdoor conditions like gravel, and asphalt. The main difference between the two tire types is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means they are strong and you cannot puncture, pop or gouge them. These types of tires are more expensive compared to air pneumatic tires because they are made up of way more rubber. These tires are best suited for places like scrap yards and lumber yards where there could be lots of debris or sharp things on the ground.

Air pneumatic tires could be punctured accidentally. When this happens, you can get flat tires from them. Prior to operating a forklift with air pneumatic tires, be sure that the yard is free of debris, sharp metals and nails and by checking your work space. In the majority of applications, standard air pneumatic tires function great.
