Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for jobs that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. Like for instance, workers can carry out exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suited to specific jobs like electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are available with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Because these equipment must be positioned directly under the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift usually has a bigger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area when the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these kinds of machines, since they need to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being used for cladding or window installation, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Cherry pickers, boom trucks and bucket trucks each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand along with a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different tasks and are suitable for certain applications and completing certain jobs.
